"Pre-eminence"

"And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw not man, save Jesus only." ~ Matthew 17:8

Pre-eminent: To be above and before all others. To be "Number One"

"...that in all things, He (Jesus) might have pre-eminence." ~ Colossians 1:18

Notice the two words, "all things." Our heavenly Father, the Holy Spirit, and the Bible, always give pre-eminence to Jesus. When He was born, it was not Mary or the angels, but Jesus who had the glory. When He was baptized, it was not John the Baptist nor the ordinance of baptism which was given pre-eminence, but the Lord Himself. When he died on the cross of Calvary, God glorified Him. It was not the thieves who died or the religious leaders who had Him crucified who were pre-eminent, but Jesus was exalted. When we look at the empty tomb and see the women gathered there and later the apostles who showed up, it was Jesus who was pre-eminent. We see the Lord Jesus as the apostles carry His Name throughout the world in that day. We should make sure that in all we say and do, that Jesus is the main focus. Our message, music and motives should all be about Him. We must make sure that He is pre-eminent in our homes, our jobs, at school, at church, and all other areas of our lives. It is not about us or any program of man, it is all about Him. Amen!
