"Doing Your Part"

"And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Rueben,

Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?" ~ Numbers 32:16

If you were to read the story behind this verse, you would find that these two tribes of Israel wanted to settle in the land before crossing the Jordan River. Moses tells them they must join the other ten tribes in conquering the Promised Land. It was their responsibility to join the others in the hardships as they settled in the land of promise. What these two tribes wanted to do was settle in and take it easy while the others faced all the battles and hardships that lay ahead. Such is the case with many saved people today, especially many church members. It seems that many today don't want to be involved in great tasks that the church gets involved in. Yet, when the church gets the job done, these will be the ones who claim to have been part of the event.

Every Christian will have responsibilities. These responsibilities will deal greatly with their church home. When these responsibilities are taken care of, God will bless that work. When the responsibility is left undone, then someone else has to make up the difference. May this new year be one where each of us will not be slack in doing what we must do. This is all our God wants.
