Be a Good Soldier

"No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life;
that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."
II Timothy 2:4
We, who are saved, have been called to be good soldiers. He who has saved us has also chosen us to not get entangled in the things of life that would hinder our service to Him. With all that goes on in a Christian's life, it is easy to get entangled with things that will hinder our service for the Lord. Sports, hobbies, TV, computer games, pleasures, civic work, jobs, etc. can get you so tangled up that Jesus and His concerns are never attended to.
We are in a battle. Our commander urges us to lay aside everything that would hinder our calling to serve and honor Him. We were not saved just to sit idly by and do our own thing. We were saved to serve. We were not saved just to go to Heaven one day. We were saved so that we could also tell others about our Lord. Every boy, girl, mom, dad, and grandparent who is saved is expected to step forward and receive their orders for service. Every lost sinner is held captive by an enemy (Satan), and only the Gospel can free them. We must not come off the front lineds. We must stay in battle. Do not allow the affairs of this world to entangle you so that you are hindered. Be a good soldier.
