22,000-10,000-300

"And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites

into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me."

Judges 7:2

Gideon and the army of Israel had faced many armies ten times the size of their own. God would reduce Gideon's army from 22,00 to 300! Many times we have the idea that big is better. Here we see God showing us that the resources we have may be too much. In our own lives, our resources can actually become a hindrance to our trust in God. Our Lord wants us to depend upon Him, not on our own strength- whether physical, financial, or intellectual. God knew that when He reduced the army down to 300 that He--NOT the people-- Would receive the glory for the magnificent victory!

Today, we as Christians must learn to trust out God and to put Him to the test. Our God loves to be proud. We fail him in so many ways, be He has NEVER failed us!

Someone has said this many years ago: "Me and God make a majority." While this sounds really good, it misses the truth. Take the "ME" out; then, you will have it right! "God makes the majority!" He is the only resource you and I need.
