"Let No Man Despise Thy Youth"

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him and He shall direct they paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6
I am thankful for the young people in our church here at Welch Creek. It's great to see them grow in the grace of God. For a young person to grow up today and maintain a Godly testimony, he or she will need to have a determination to go against the trends of this world. The attractions of this world are a powerful magnet that Satan uses to pull everyone his way-especially young people. The youth of today have become such a major factor in church attendance that most churches have changed their whole church service to cater to them. Pastors and youth leaders have gone to any extreme to get young people into church. Sadly most of the changes they have done are not in line with the scriptures.
The entertainment mind-set is the order of things in most churches and the youth movement is its reason. No longer are church services programmed to honor God and His Word, but it is now a program to make everyone feel good and cozy. Clean, Godly living has now been pushed out the door and replaced with a "do as you please" mentality. We now have speakers instead of Preachers. We now have praise leaders instead of the Holy Spirit leading; and how about he church's attire for today's worship service?
The women wear low-cut tops, high hemmed skirts and dresses, and tight shorts & pants. The men and boys come dressed in baggy shorts, jerseys, worn-out jeans, flip flops, and sandals. Their answer to this laid-back carefree way is that they say God looks at the heart and not at the outward. The verse they base that on is II Samuel 16:7 and has to deal with God choosing new king, not how we dress. Let's remember that a worship service is to honor our great God! That should cause us to give Him our very best in every way!
