"Done In Secret"

"and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly."

~ Matthew 6 : 18

Many people look to their friends and family for applause, or reward, or compliments when they do something good. Not to receive any praise usually saddens their so called "good deed." Our above verse tells us that a reward day for our good deeds is left up to God, and will come after our death. Those human acts of kindness that are motivated by love, and done in secret are seen by God, and will not go unrewarded. Jesus called it, "Laying up treasures in Heaven." Treasures so great that they can never be done away with. Even the smallest of good deeds done in Jesus' name will be added to your treasure chest in Heaven. Jesus mentioned a glass of water in His name is seen by the Father. While the world seeks to applaud the achievements of people who live for praise, we who are saved, should live to seek the favor and applause of our heavenly Father.

It takes great humility to do good in secret and never let it be known through your own words. Those who live to be patted on the back will lose that reward in Heaven. However, those who serve the Lord Jesus with the right motive will be honored greatly when they stand before God, and He reveals to all of Heaven what you while on earth for His Name's sake. What treasures are you laying up?
