"God Forbid"

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" ~ Romans 6: 1-2
How is it that so many professing Christians have the idea that God's grace gives them the freedom to do as they wish? The answer is not found in someone obeying a list of "Do's & Don't's." God's commandments are not given to make slaves out of us. They are given so we can see how much we miss the mark of perfection, and to guide us in a way that will keep us on His straight and narrow path. Five times in the chapter, we are commanded to yield ourselves to Christ. This yielding is an act of love toward the One Who saved us! Not to yield to Him is a sure sign of disobedience, and a lack of love from Him on our part. Having it your way will always distance you from the blessings of God. Doing your own thing is a sign of selfishness, and will lead you into the sins that will hinder your walk with God. Learn to yield to the Word of God, and to the Spirit of God.
