"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world,

and lose his own soul?"

~ Mark 8:36

Almost everyone has heard of the name, J.P. Morgan. He was one of the world's richest men. When he died, his will consisted of some ten thousand words, and contained thirty-seven articles. Most people are concerned about who would benefit from his fortunes that he left. However, his will's closing words were the ones that meant the most to him. Here they are:

"I commit my soul into the hands of my Savior, will full

confidence that having redeemed me,

and washed me with His precious blood, He will present me

faultless before the throne of my

Heavenly Father. I entreat my children to maintain

and defend all hazards, and at an cost of

personal sacrifice, the blessed doctrine of complete

atonement of sins through the blood of

Jesus Christ, once offered, and through that above.

What a wonderful closing testimony of a man who had millions. His trust was not in his money, but in the finished work of Jesus Christ. His advice to his family and even to us who are reading this, is don't live just to make money, but live to make preparation for eternity. Rich, poor or in-between, are you ready for eternity?
