"I Recommend Grace"

Beginning the first Sunday in October, I will begin a series of messages on marriage and the home. Pondering on that thought for today, allow me to share something greatly needed in every marriage, in every church, and in every place you often find yourself.

"...from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God." (Acts 14:2)
"Being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God." (Acts 15:4)

Having been in the ministry now for just over 46 years, I can honestly say that it takes grace, more grace, and great grace in dealing with people. If there's one element of Christianity that needs to be seen in our world, it's Grace. Grace and Mercy run together. Grace and Truth also run together. Were it not for God's grace and mercy, we would still be lost in our sin and have no hope in this world-- or for eternity. Grace gives us what we do not deserve, and mercy holds back what we do deserve. Grace gives us forgiveness and Heaven, while mercy holds back what we really deserve-- judgment and Hell. We need both of these if we are to be the Christian that God would have us to be. It takes grace to overcome personal differences, personal preferences, and personal judgment.
I know that in my own life over the last 46 years that I have shown too little grace in some situations. It has been in these situations that the Holy Spirit reminded me of God's grace toward me.
If we are guilty of something, may it be of showing Grace and Mercy!
